Case Study

Mission

Design and deliver the firmware for the Access Control System device. Be mindful of all the limitations, yet provide the highest level of security. Showcase the Agile hardware development in action.

Mission Complete

Objectives

  • Provide over-the-air TLS encrypted updates

All Access Control devices in the facility have to be successfully updated at a given time. An update must not cause any disruption or security breach.

  • Focus on security, responsiveness, and reliability proved through extensive testing

Access Control devices are implemented to increase security. We had to make sure the device we built will enhance it.

  • Design the firmware for the Access Control System device

Squad

  • Project Manager
  • Firmware Engineers
  • the Squad is growing

Mission Timeline

Gear

  • Real-time operating systems (RTOS) and Linux Embedded
  • Over-the-air updates (OTA)
  • Encryption & security in embedded systems
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) Testing
  • Wireless communication

Outcome

  • We successfully designed the firmware for the Access Control device under strict limitations regarding memory footprint and device performance.
  • We performed an extensive testing drill to ensure the safety, performance, and reliability of the system.
  • We delivered our solution to the client in less than 3 months.
  • We evidenced our Agile Hardware approach. We commenced long-term cooperation with Vercada on Access Control and other projects.
